Celebrating its 25th anniversary, The Hampton Beach Children’s Festival is set for Monday through Friday, Aug. 17 to 21, featuring free entertainment, events and competitions for the whole family.
PORTSMOUTH – If you’ve ever wanted to tour some of the finest ships in the nation without traveling across the country, then make your way to Portsmouth this weekend for the Tall Ships Festival at the Market Street Terminal.
Parades, concerts and the good old-fashioned fun of Old Home Day make for refreshing and inexpensive recreation during these difficult economic times.
Since its inception in 1899, when soon-to-be New Hampshire Gov. Frank Rollins initiated the event to bring former residents back to their hometown for a day-long celebration, Old Home Day continues to renew pride in the communities that still celebrate it.
‘To boldly go…’
One of the newer exhibits at the Discovery Center is a display of Star Trek memorabilia. Executive Director Jean Gerulskis attended an auction at Christie’s in October 2006 of items related to the television series and movies. She was able to purchase the suit worn by Transporter Chief Janice Rand in the original TV series, as well as chairs used in an episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
