exhibit invites Children’s Museum visitors to get fresh

DOVER — The Children’s Museum is planning an interactive workshop focused on healthy eating, in conjunction with the art exhibit “For The Love Of Food.”
“Exploring Fruits and Vegetables,” a one-hour workshop for families with children of all ages, will be led by Eileen Behan, RD, at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 13.

Workshop participants will explore the amazing world of fresh foods, with an opportunity to taste, touch, smell, and look inside different fruits and vegetables provided by Fiddlehead Farms Marketplace. There will also be a food-related scavenger hunt.
This family workshop is included with regular admission and advance registration is not required.
As fresh produce hits peak production in New Hampshire this summer, it will also be in abundance on the walls of the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire’s Gallery 6. The “For The Love of Food” exhibit will feature images of healthy fruits and vegetables created by more than a dozen acclaimed New Hampshire artists. This show runs through Sept. 5.
Along with the exhibit, Behan, of Rye, has added nutritional information, recipes, and helpful suggestions designed to support caregivers as they encourage kids to make wise food choices.
More than a dozen New Hampshire artists have been invited to contribute to this visual smorgasbord with artwork in mediums such as painting, photography, and illustrations. These colorful, lively, and fun interpretations of fruits and vegetables, from apples to zucchini, offer a feast for the eyes.
Featured artists include Steve Bowersock, Denise Brown, Cory Caputo, Gina Carey, Eve Corey, Tess Feltes, Suzie Goodwin, Gretchen Hatfield, Susan Kaufmann, Shaula Levenson, Fleur Palau, Shawn Pelech, Sue Pretty, Eva Powers, Susan Savory, Wendy Turner, Jan Waldron, Teri Weidner and Peter Welch.
The museum is located at 6 Washington St., Dover. For tickets or more information call 742-2002 or visit childrens-museum.org.
