All about pumpkins, Friday, Oct. 30

Kids and their families have a chance to taste a traditional pumpkin recipe, learn why pumpkins and squash were a favorite food for Native Americans, and carve their very own jack-o-lanterns at Amosekeag Fishways, 6 Fletcher St., Manchester.
“It truly is a family program, you don’t have to have kids to come either,” said Helen Dalbeck, center director.
All programs are interactive with audience participation and inquiry from the audience. There is also discussion of the culture along the Merrimack River, which has to do with the foods and crops that grow along the river.
The harvest-oriented event takes place from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30.
Cost for the event is $5 per family. Registration is required. Call 626-3474 or visit www.amoskeagfishways.org.
